Raw, unrefined shea butter is nutrient rich and also provides Vitamins A, D, E & F. It is a super moisturizer and healer of skin inflammations, eczema and eruptions.
Organic refined coconut oil amongst many things is rich in Vitamins E & K and is a great antioxidant which delays & prevents some types of cell damage.
The calendula flowers are infused in a verified 100% olive oil that is extra virgin and organic because of its high antioxidants and phenols, which is great for soothing dry, mature skin.
Calendula, Calendula Officinalis, is a gentle flower that is potent and soothing. Used externally, it helps heal the body by promoting cell repair and acts as an antiseptic, keeping infection from occurring in injuries. It is also anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory.

The essential oils are great healers of mind and body, too.
Lavender essential oil is very calming as it soothes the nervous system. It has a healing, balancing and anti-inflammatory effect on the skin. It benefits all inflammations of the skin including wounds, cuts, bites and scarring.
Sandalwood essential oil is also very calming to the nervous system as it soothes anxiety & nervous tension. Physically, it is a great healer of dehydrated, dry, cracked skin, as well as aging & mature skin.
Frankincense essential oil calms anxiety, nervous tension & obsessive thinking. It also replenishes moisture to dry, aging, mature skin.

SORE MUSCLE SALVE
Apply this to sore, swollen, stiff, bruised muscles, ligaments, or joints. It is also a great remedy for arthritis or any traumatic or overuse injury. Do not apply to broken skin.

Arnica, Arnica montana, is used for external application as an anti-inflammatory for reducing swelling and bruising caused by traumatic injury, pulled muscles or ligaments, and for treating arthritic joints.
Comfrey, Symphytum officinale, speeds healing of bruises, broken bones, pulled muscles and ligaments, and sprains. It relieves pain, inflammation and swelling of muscles and joints in the case of degenerative arthritis, sprains, contusions and strains after sports injuries and accidents.

Chickweed, Stellaria media, used externally is an anti-inflammatory treatment for arthritic or rheumatic joints. It also makes an excellent remedy for skin rashes, wounds that won’t heal, insect stings or eczema.
Turmeric root, ginger root and cayenne are specific anti-inflammatory and analgesic agents recommended against sprains, injuries and swellings. These three are infused together in an organic refined coconut oil because, amongst many things, it is rich in vitamins E & K and is a great antioxidant which delays & prevents some types of cell damage.

WHAT'S THE WHAT
I started studying plants and their amazing healing properties about 13 years ago. I most love the weeds that grow wild right here at our feet in Western NC. Every spring as the plants start to emerge from their winter hibernation, I set out to harvest these amazing weeds and try and make the most of them by using them in every way possible; from eating fresh as a daily tonic, to infusing in oils to make into body butter and salve. The more I got to know the plants, the more I wanted to use them to keep me healthy or help mend my scrapes, bumps and bruises or nurture me back to good health. But I also wanted to share the magic with others. This is how Mama Kat’s came about.
Mama Kat's is a one-woman designed, owned and operated plant based skin care product line that I, Katherine Bender, started in 2013 and run in Hot Springs, NC. Healing mind and body through olfactory and transdermal application with high quality ingredients is most important to this company as well as good business ethics.
Highest quality, locally grown, chemical-free, certified naturally grown, or certified organic ingredients are all sought to be employed in these products.

The act of self-care is so very important to our overall physical and emotional well-being. Taking the time every day, even if it's just for a short moment, to sit, close your eyes and breathe, and hydrate your skin after a shower before running off to conquer your day or tend to that sore spot in your lower back by rubbing on some salve, is a very healthy and healing ritual to add to your every day. The aromatherapy is emotionally calming and grounding while the physical application is soothing and healing.

It's important to me that my product is in a glass jar. Glass isn't going to leach anything into the product. Mama Kat's is a simple, all natural product that deserves to maintain it's properties throughout it's life span. And then if you would please reuse the container again and again.
Please store in a cool, dry place and avoid direct sunlight. There are no preservatives in this product so if stored properly it has a shelf life of 5 years.
